The latest issue of Statistics Canada’s Consumer Price Index indicates that the overall inflation rate for the month of February stood at 2.2% on a year-over-year basis. The increase was marginally less than the 2.3% increase recorded for January 2011.
The largest single contributor to that rate was energy prices, which rose by 10.6% in the previous 12 months. Gasoline prices increased by 15.7% on a year-over-year basis.
